Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Eligibility to appear for CLAT 2025?
  • There is no upper age limit for candidates appearing for UG Programme through the CLAT 2025.

  • Candidates must secure the following minimum percentage of marks in their qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2 or an equivalent examination):
    • 45% marks or its equivalent grade for General / OBC / PWD / NRI / PIO / OCI categories
    • 40% marks or equivalent for SC/ST categories

  • Candidates appearing for their qualifying examination in March/April 2025 are also eligible, but must provide proof of passing the qualifying exam at the time of admission.

  • Result of the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2) must be submitted at the time of admission, otherwise the candidate will be ineligible for admission.

  • If more than one candidate secures an equal number of marks in CLAT 2025, the tie will be broken by:
    1. Higher marks in Legal Aptitude section
    2. Higher age
    3. Computerized draw of lots
The UG-CLAT focuses on evaluating the comprehension and reasoning skills of candidates. It is divided into the following 5 subjects:
  • English Language
  • Current Affairs, including General Knowledge
  • Legal Reasoning
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Quantitative Techniques
English Language

Passages of about 450 words, followed by questions testing comprehension and language skills.

Current Affairs, including General Knowledge

Passages from news, journalistic sources, etc., with questions on current events, arts and culture, international affairs, and historical events.

Legal Reasoning

Passages related to legal matters or public policy, followed by questions on identifying rules and principles, applying them, and understanding changes.

Logical Reasoning

Short passages followed by questions on recognizing arguments, analyzing patterns, drawing inferences, and assessing arguments.

Quantitative Techniques

Sets of facts or numerical data, with questions requiring derivation, inference, and application of mathematical operations.

The entrance exam of CLAT is conducted in offline mode (pen and paper).

CLAT UG is only conducted in English medium.

The candidate is given two hours (120 minutes) to complete 120 multiple-choice questions.

Each question carries 1 mark. 0.25 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer. No deduction for unattempted questions.

Admission is available in 24 NLUs based on CLAT score. Other law schools also accept CLAT scores for admission purposes.
