The preliminary examination is of qualifying nature and the number of
candidates to be admitted to the Main (Written) Examination shall not be
more than twenty times the total number of advertised
vacancies in each category.
DISCLAIMER :The syllabus for Preliminary Examination and the Main Examination mentioned above is subject to change it shall be as directed by the Delhi High Court from time to time.
The Main (Written) Examination shall consist of 4 papers- One paper of language & General knowledge and three papers of law.
Paper I: 150 marks
General Knowledge & Language – This is to test the candidate’s knowledge of
current affairs etc. and power of expression in English. Credit will be given
both for substance and expression. Conversely deduction will be made for bad
expression, faults of grammar and misuse of words etc.
Paper II: 200 Marks
Law - I – Constitution of India, Code of Civil Procedure, Indian EvidenceAct,
Limitation Act, Registration Act and such other subjects as may be specified by
the High Court from time to time.
Paper III: 200 Marks
Law - II – Transfer of Property Act, Indian Contract Act, Sale of Goods Act,
Indian Partnership Act, Specific Relief Act, Arbitration Law, Personal Law and
such other subjects as may be specified by the High court from time to time.
Paper IV: 200 Marks
Law - III – Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code, Indian Evidence Act
and such other subjects as may be specified by the High court from time to
time.
A candidate must obtain minimum number of marks prescribed in the table below:

✔ The number candidates shortlisted for viva voce shall not exceed three
times the number of vacancies in each category advertised.
✔ In case, there is a candidate(s) who has/have secured marks equal to the
marks secured by the last candidate shortlisted for viva voce, then all
such candidate(s) who have secured marks equal to the marks secured
by the last candidate shortlisted for viva voce, shall also be shortlisted for
the viva voce irrespective of the fact that by including such candidate(s),
the number of candidates shortlisted for viva voce exceeds the prescribed
limit of three times the number of vacancies in each category advertised.
MAXIMUM MARKS: 250 Marks
Relatively more meritorious candidates from among those who
appeared in the Main Examination in the ratio of 1:3 having
regard to the number of vacancies shall be called for viva-voce to
be conducted. The maximum marks for Viva-voce would be 15.
A candidate belonging to unreserved category has to secure
minimum 33% marks in the viva-voce and those belonging to
Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/Other Backward Classes
shall be required to secure minimum 25% marks in the viva-voce
